boot soft close

Hi

Has anyone had a problem with closing the boot? My boot won't close properly, you can lower it to the latch but the motor wont pull the boot down fully. I have also noticed the boot interior light has stopped working, which works intermittently and when it does light up the boot closes correctly. I suspect a sensor has gone wrong and thinks the boot it closed so the motor doesn't operate? Just wondered if anyone else had the problem and managed to sort it. Its booked into the dealer but they can't see it for 2 weeks!

Hi, never had this issue on my E89 but I did have it with my E88. Had real issues getting the boot to close and then when I did it sometimes indicated on the dash that it wasn't closed. Dealer looked at it and made some adjustments but still didn't sort it and eventually it was disagnosed as having a faulty sensor. According to the service manager they have a few of them in the boot and can be prone to going wrong.

Sounds like you might have a similar issue.
 
Have you tried retracting the 2 adjustable screws on the lid? Don't know if it might help or what their true purpose is...
 
My boot wont open, at all, opens with key then auto-closes straight away. Been in BMW all day today and they couldnt open it .. :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:
