Boot roof protector rattles

Wow thanks, I didn't expect a response as quickly as that. Is that your own mod or is it a new/improved design part from BMW?
If you drilled those holes, I'm guessing the plastic must be fairly thick as you will have drilled a a wider hole as well allowing the bolt head to sit reasonably flush/flat.

Well.. I let my dad and his girlfriend use my car for 4 days vacation, and when he returned the car the left black plastic cover/thingy had broken. I figured a new part from BMW eventually would do the same and decided to drill 3 holes in each. The plastic is fairly thick, as you can see it allowed me to drill room for "countersunk allen head screw" (that sentence was taken strait from Google as I have no idea what these types of bolts are called in English).
*edit* the reason i chose these types of bolts is because of the limited space available when the roof is in the trunk. When the roof is is the trunk you can reach in behind with your hands to get a feel of the headroom, i believe there's about 1cm, but no reason to take any risks :lol:
*edit2* I jsut remembered you should be really aware not to tighten the bolt too much! You can see the plastic start to deform long before you feel any resistance from tightening. I used some washers on the other side with self-locking nuts.

Mine rattles too although I haven't establish exactly where the rattle's coming from!
It's fine when the hood's down but drives me barmy when the hoods up, unless the radio's on loud!!
