Boot Release from Key

Hello

Since I've had my z4 I've had to press the boot open button on the key about 10 times before it eventually does it.

Sometimes it doesn't and I end up just using the key itself - which I don't like doing.

Is there any reason this may be happening?

I find keeping the boot open button pressed slightly longer does the trick.A quick blip doesn't open my boot.

The receiver is toward the front of the car... point it closer to the driver side door I think... dont quote me on that but works for me. The E85/6 keys are awful compared to the newer ones, literally have to be right next to it for it to open. Plus its flawed because you still (on the coupe) have to push the BMW logo in to lift it up! It should spring open IMO. Think you can get release springs for them.

Otherwise your bat may be dying in your key. You can try recharging it by putting it on the top of an electric toothbrush charging station

By design it needs to be kept held for longer than the normal unlock button.

Try the second key to see if you get the same issues. That will eliminate some causes like it being the push switch in the key, battery charge of the key, etc.

Do you have issues just at home or the same when you park elsewhere? (some people have reported issues due to other signals in the area) Unlikely if the rest of the locks open.

I feel like a bit of an idiot as I've realised it works perfectly if I press and hold the boot release button haha.

Thanks for the help though as always.
