Am I missing something please?

When I press the remote to unlock the car I still have to either press the remote release button in the footwell or use the key in the boot lock to open the boot. Is there some kind of combination of presses to open the boot on the key or do I need to get my Indy to programe thr key to allow auto release of the boot?

Secondly I assume that I need one of those add ons to raise /lower the roof (althogh I can do it with the key in the lock)
and this is not simply programmable (03 3.0I)

Thirdly are tehre any additional functions avaialble on the key (yes I know there are quite a number of options!) thay anyone feels are really usefull -so I can get done at the same tine it goes next week to my Indy!

Mnay thanks

On mine i have to unlock the car on the key button before i can open the boot on the key(stops key from being locked in the boot)

It's programable for the boot. IIRC you can have it open while leaving the car doors locked (as mine) inoperative on the fob, or opening only after the doors unlocked.

My 03 list is posted a few times on the site if you want to search it for some ideas or just ask BMW what applicable to your model and year.

My 55 plate key pops the boot even with the doors locked. Just have to hold the button down for few seconds.

Like press once to open doors and again to release boot? Thanks

the boot release is the other button on the key, and it need to be held down as stated above to open the boot.

Sorry-brain dead- would have helped if I actually looked at the key. Put it down to my age.

On mine i also have to unlock the car first before pressing (and holding) the boot release button to open the boot.

I asked an indy to allow me to open it without unlocking the car first (as stated as an option in the manual) but they were unable to do it.

I do belive they changed the boot unlocking at facelift, but thought that was just so it had to be held to open it rather than a single blip. Was done to stop accidental opening.

Mine def works with doors locked and I often use it when I just want to drop items in the boot.

Very strange.

For my car it is the following:
Door lock First Press - Open Drivers Door
Door lock Second Press - Open Passenger Door

Trunk button press (does not need to be held down) - Open Boot (can be done with doors locked)

The boot is automatically locked when the trunk is pressed down. The only way to open it again is either press the button in the footwell, press the key unlock button, or use the key in the trunk lock.

That's not strange - it's exactly word for word what mine does.

Not quite the same but we have a fiesta that does that and it says in the handbook that it can be reset (manually) to open both doors with one press, (same as my wifes z4) so quite possibly a "programme" type thingy.

On my old roadster (pre-facelift) you just pressed the button briefly and it opened the boot but on the new car (facelift) you need to hold it pressed for a couple of seconds before it pops the boot.

I find it quite annoying that you have to open the car before the boot release will work but knowing my luck if I had it programmed the other way then without doubt the key would be locked in the boot.. guaranteed!!
