Boot rattles on a coupe

Hi all, hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a coupe with a slight rattling noise when I shut the boot. It seems to be coming from the lower section somewhere between the top of the light & the gas strut.

Just pulled the plastic surrounds off & can't find anything lose in there, I'm hoping someone else has had the same problem & can point me towards a cure. :headbang:

Doesn't rattle when driving, but does sound a little cheap when shutting the boot

Thanks

Matt

Might be the hydraulic lifts, could another Z4C owner tap theirs for me at the thickest part (ooh er!) and see if it resonates too - seems to 'match' the sound on shutting the boot IYKWIM.

I am not at home at the moment but if nobody helps tonight i will do it tomorrow if i remember - PM tomorrow if you want me to do it, otherwise i will just forget (its an age thing)

i have just been and had a look, i have tapped and poked it and i would say it all seems very sturdy, it doesn't appear to resonate and it all appears quite firm

New gas struts are £35 per side. Part number is 51243420572 I believe!

All sorted, after some strategic tapping & banging while holding the strut it was clear there was something within the boot lid.

30 mins of a sticky pad on a length of wire & blind fishing through a small hole, a small piece of plastic clip was recovered - now wondering which piece of trim will drop off!!
