How do I open boot for passenger when i am in car with engine running?
Having hard time opening the boot at all unless I with draw key ?
Thanks

I think if you press the button on the dash to unlock all the doors, it might unlock the boot as well...? I could be wrong... :?

Same thing here. I tried the central button in the car but it still doesn't open the boot when I can't get it open. Took it to the dealer to have a look and was told it looks like a fault but I should try the spare key fob first :o If the intermittent boot opening issue continues then I need to book it in for them to look at. I really think something is not right as the other night I put her in the garage all safely looked up but the next day ALL the windows were open and the red LED on the console was flashing, strange!

Had some similar symptoms with boot not unlocking as soon I got my car (which was then a year old) - turned out to be related to a range of faults I encountered with the roof mechanism which in turn was down to a faulty microswitch on the roof hydralic system. If you are also getting roof fault messages (sometimes on dash or with roof up or down switch flashing) you might want to get dealer to check it over - I was very lucky in so far as when roof eventually refused to close I was only a few miles from local dealer and no sooner had I got car there and under cover the heavens opened.

Isn't there a button by the driver side door hinge, just above the lever used to open the hood (aka bonnet for you uk folks)?

If I leave missus in car with key still in when I go to shops she presses the button on the dash and it opens the boot. Never had a problem unless she disnae see me coming then I need to tap window :D
But button should release central locking in boot

You have to press the button on the dash twice.

Once will unlock the drivers door only and the second push will unlock the passengers door and also release the boot. This is a configerable option on the idrive at least.

There is a button next to the bonnet (hood) release near the driver door (door :D ) to open the boot (trunk).

Not that I've seen on my car.

BMW must have decided not to put it in later cars perhaps, mine is an early model.

I can guarantee though, it is most definitely there

Mine is 2010 and NO button. I remember reading about it in the manual but then looked the next day and its blanked off. Apparently its a option :headbang:

Bazza, we are talking about the door unlock button situated under the emergency warning light button, between the two air vents. Pretty sure this is standard. I think you may be talking about a specific boot release button in the drivers footwell. Like you, mine is blanked off.

Sorry, lost the plot here. For some reason I thought the content had changed to the button in the foot well, drivers side.

Time for a holiday me thinks :D
