Boot not opening

it opens with the key, But not with the badge latch type thingy..
Its never opened manually since ive owned it.. i was told it could be a button thats normally in the glovebox or below the steering wheel but i have no button anywhere in those places..
So is it worth removing all the boot trim to have a look around, Even though i wont know what im actually looking for to see if its broken somewhere .. or is there any other places this phantom boot button could be .. Thank you

Boot button seems to be no option on our euro cars. Skin flint BMW.
There is a microswitch behind badge, it or wiring might be faulty.
I wired in my own boot switch, useful to get boot open when the inevitable roof fails.
