Boot light

My (2004) boot light is really poor, hardly lights up any of the boot - almost pointless. Can I just do a straight swap of the light bulb for something brighter? If so, any particular one/type? Thanks

Just seen another post from today about LED strip in boot!! Anyone point me in the right direction of a suitable one?

I cannot help with the LED strip solution, but I bought a couple of LED bulbs on Ebay for £3.99 delivered.

So much brighter than the original bulb.

The only slight issue is they are a bit shorter than the original so I had to bend the terminals of the bulb-holder slightly - but the other one is a perfect fit for my E46 Compact boot! I'm sure a quick search would find a slightly longer bulb if you were wary of bending the terminals.

FWIW the service was excellent - ordered on a Sunday evening, through the letterbox on Tuesday!

Thanks Mr Tidy, I'm happy to bend terminals if required!

It's a straight swap, but after posting I noticed the same firm also supply 42mm bulbs (I bought 38mm ones) so they ought to go straight in.

It won't be as bright as an LED strip, but there's no need for any wiring!

I just got a strip off E-bay and pushed the wires into the bulb connector - less than £2 if I recall
I'll see if I can find the E-bay link

I used one of Scooba_Steve's kits. Simple to fit and difference is like night and day... almost literally!!
