Boot lid surface rust

So now I have a Z4MC :D very happy with my purchase but a couple of things to do..
The first thing I want to tackle is a small area on the inside boot lid, looks like surface rust, about the size of a 10p, on one side only, I know this is not uncommon.

Has anyone had any success getting this repaired under the BMW corrosion warranty, after 10 years? (I think it was 12 year warranty) and if not, has anyone successfully tackled it diy? Any tips for either appreciated.

The other thing is CDV delete, will follow the vid I saw online for that one.

There have been a few tailgates replaced under the corrosion warranty on here and as far as I know only one where the BMW bodyshop has made a poor job of refitting as in the post referred to. Mine was done perfectly at Douglas Park BMW in Hillington. Even if a replacement tailgate isn’t authorised, they will repair the rust patch for you at least. The key to getting a replacement is to show that there is rust in inaccessible areas, for example along the seams near to the outer edge. I had an almost imperceptible amount of corrosion starting there and managed a replacement under warranty on an 11 year old car.
 
Thanks dgm, it doesn’t look too bad on mine, I think it will be a repair rather than replacement, but it is good to know others have had warranty work, will try my local Rybrook in Worcester.
 
Well I’m at Sytner Solihull (decided to use a dealer I used in the past) and they are doing the necessary to send off to BMW UK for assessment. We will see!
