Boot lid remote release

I've got the same issue with mine. Has anyone had an early 2004 Z4 successfully re-programmed to make the remote boot pop only work when the car is unlocked?

I work for a dealer, and the guys in the workshop didn't manage to re-programme mine today, and weren't sure if it could be done on pre-facelift cars.

iv just tried mine out there, i have a 53 and it unlocks without unlocking the car first.

my spare seems to have died aswell, i read a thread but cant find it gain saying that leaving the key in the ignition will charge it, is this true? every other key iv seen has to have the batteries changed.

Yea, the key charges up whilst driving. It also stores the mileage it was last used at on it. Service told me you should alternate your keys to prevent damage to the batteries.

It is a pain, I want to program mine to only unlock the boot with the car unlocked. Too often I've noticed it just sat open a bit in a morning or when I leave work etc... if it was a 2s button press it'd maybe work, but it's a simple 'click' press and all too easy to do by accident (imho)

If someone finds a way of doing this I would be very interested in a solution.

Didn't know this I've been using the same key for the last 5 years, the spare still works though, it's being used by friend to start the car and drive it around every couple of weeks to prevent things from seizieng and keep the battery charged up while I'm away for the next 3 months

On my 03 (build date 10/02), the boot will open in the following conditions:

Boot opens from button press on the key or key insertion. Car does NOT need to be unlocked first.
Boot opens from the footwell switch. Car must be unlocked.

With the top down (open) and the car locked, you cannot unlock the car from the center console switch or open the boot from the footwell switch..
Car can only be unlocked with the key and the boot cannot be opened unless you use the key (button press or key insertion).

I think I have actually inserted the key in the car only twice.
