Boot Firewall Carpet Pull Chord

Hi All

I’m trying to flap up the carpet against firewall in the boot. I’ve removed all trim clips and the only thing preventing me accessing the firewall easily is this.... what is it and how do I remove it?

dont think you remove it as such, just push it through hole like a button?

Looks like the toggle to unlock the storage compartment between the seats.

Ah ok - there didn’t seem to be any slits around it - is it worth cutting some in to do this?

I’m sure when I removed part of my centre console you can remove the cord from the storage compartment. I think it hooks around something.

Not sure how practical that would be, as you’d then need to feed it back through the compartment if you removed it. Like taking out a shoe lace. Easy to remove and “harder” to lace back up.
