Boot/Door Shuts

Figured that this is the best place to post this..

So 2-3 days out of the week I leave my E85 on my parent's drive, this has a fairly steep slope to it and this means that water collects at the top of the boot lid and occasionally at the hinge to the door. The obvious answer is to reverse onto the drive but due to the geometry of the road and the drive etc. this is a right faf on.

I don't see this being quite the problem that it became on my E46 with how the roof drains but I want to keep on top of it so that it can't.

Obviously I can't take the jet wash to this area and even my wash mitt is a bit unwieldy, so I was wondering if anybody had any tricks I could use?

TIA

Paul

Not a problem such as rust etc. but when it drains away it tends to leave behind a lot of the muck. Usually in the gap around the top or beside the hinges.

Like I said I don't anticipate it being half as bad as the E46 which had half of the roof draining down this gap but I want to keep on top of it.

Also, what to you do about any muck new the fuel cap?

OCD coming out now

I'm not sure how you'd stop the water collecting other than perhaps a cover. You could pack towels into the shuts but that's a lot of faff. I'd just give those areas a wipe down each weekend if it was that bad. As for around the fuel cap, just get some APC (all purpose cleaner) and a small brush, work it in to dissolve the fuel/oil/muck and rinse it out.

Cheers, I'll look into some. Do you recommend a brand or just get whatever's on offer in Halfrauds?

I jet wash my hinges etc... no issues.

I cover them in APC first, and if needed use a small brush to aggitate that, then blast off with the power washer

How in the hell do you do that without getting the interior/door wet?

just point the power washer out of the car...

so the trigger is over the seats (for example) then the hose is pointing out the way, and very little of it gets inside the car...

Damn it, why did I not think of doing that when I had the pressure washer out at the weekend? :(

I use one of those portable steam cleaners for this task (£15 from home bargains or the like). Comes with bendy attachments and the like to get into nooks.
