This thread has been fun... Though on a serious note, I agree with you Beedub. It is a little strange the mods didn't lock this early on tbh... Unless they were also enjoying it of course :?

Yes... I think all those that wanted one... got a green one.. You know what I'm saying.. Now I think they are just a little out of my price range. I will probably wait for the fire sale..

How similar is tis to this one for £13?

http://www.7dayshop.com/special/summer-sale/sonivo-easy-speaker-amplifier-for-smartphones?backUrl=L3NwZWNpYWwvc3VtbWVyLXNhbGU/dXRtX2NhbXBhaWduPTIwMTMtMDctMDctU3VtbWVyLVNhbGUmdXRtX2NvbnRlbnQ9JnV0bV9tZWRpdW09ZW1haWwmdXRtX3NvdXJjZT1lbWFpbENhbXBhaWduI2Rpcj1kZXNjJmxpbWl0PTEwMCZvcmRlcj1wcmljZQ==

Looks to use the same sort of tech so wondering if they're all the same Chinese made units underneath or if the one in the opening post has something special about it?

I don't think it's the same - unless the nearfield tech described by the OP is simply amplification from the devices own speaker as this one is.

How else would it work? I think that is the whole premise, which is why you have to place it on top.

So then who wants in?

You have understood of course that your tactics have undermined any sales at all from the forum yes? :fuelfire:

I had a boss once who taught me that hope has no place in a realistic assessment of your success in making a sale. Wise words that I have successfully lived by for some years now

Good point :slaphead:

I'd love to pull one apart and see what it's using. It's reliant on a speaker so I don't think there are any big surprises in store...

As he said no microphone its likely resonance and amplification i'd have thought. Using the term NFa near field 'audio' i think its trying to confuse people into thinking its similar to NFC near field communication, which it clearly is nothing to do with this product as only some phones have NFC ability.

HTC have an NFC speaker dock which uses NFC

i bought one off amazon for £21.99 with usb cable delivered next day .
you have to turn the ipod/iphone face down so i think it might work by vibration,to be honest its ok clever but tinny ideal for going away on holidays due to it being light and small but not that good a sound really.not worth £30 ,gave it to my daughter

Useful feedback

I was looking for portable speakers a few years back (2009-ish) and settled on some Sony MBS-200/400. Charge them up with the power cable (same as on a SE phone) and it last for about 20 hours. Still working, and still holding a good charge.

Not small enough to fit in your pocket though, but you can connect the connecting cable and wear them around your neck as a stereo scarf :P

Think the cost was about £20/speaker - and you can use them individually or as a pair. Unfortunately I don't think they're made anymore - and the newer models don't seem to include rechargeable batteries.

I've followed this with some interest. I've got one of these

http://www.amazon.co.uk/XMI-X-mini-Capsule-Speaker-iPhone/dp/B0045OWI0C/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1373221635&sr=1-1&keywords=nano+speaker

And use it when I'm away from home. Not perfect but much better than you'd expect from such a small size. I was thinking about these boomblocs but the antics above make it a no-no and I'll stick with my x-mini

Cheers

I bought one of these, a "Bluetooth Speaker And Speakerphone With HD Sound Quality And 2 X 3W Power Full Stero Speakers". Sound quality for such a small speaker is brilliant, works as a speakerphone as well. Very happy with it - happy to bring it to zedfest if anyone wants to see it in action?

I think we're getting some really useful and comparative information about portable speakers :D
