Booklets when buying the car...

Hi guys,

Hope someone can help. I am not sure whether I got the full set of booklets when I bought the car, second hand from an independant dealer. I have the leather wallet in the passenger footwell and it contains the following:

i) looking after your car
ii) Owners handbook
iii)Instructions for radio
iv) BMW Service - contact Europe book
v) Operating instructions for mobile phone provision (which I have never got working)

The bit I think I am missing is the Service booklet. I can see it referred to in the handbook but I think I was fobbed off by the dealer when he said it wouldnt have one yet as it hadnt required its first service when I bought it. I checked at the time with the original bmw dealer that sold the car when new and they confirmed that, by their records, it hadnt required a service at the time I bought it so I was pretty happy. Daftly I didnt ask them whether I should have a service book and the independant dealer said he would request one direct from BMW. I have never recieved it and given up on them as being ****s!

Should I have a service booklet? Is there an online version somewhere I could look at? Thanks to some guys on here I know I need to sort out my inspection 1 service thingy and an oil change which I hope to get done. I just wanted to see the proper documents before I went about it.

Cheers guys

Yes - there is no excuse for them not providing one - it should I think also have a dealer stamp for delivery - though I'd need to check mine to be sure.

Thanks for the reply. After a google search I just found a similar thread from last month also. Sorry to repeat it guys.

If someone wouldnt mind letting me know whether they do infact have a dealer delivery stamp I would be grateful. Time to argue will the dealer again I think ;-)

Yes as a new car it would have had a service book stamped by the supplying dealer who would have PDI'd it.
