bonnet vents (aston / jag style)

iv been contemplating the idea of getting some vents cut into the bonnet similar to aston/ jag style

i want to go with actual cutting into flutes into the bonnet rather than some plastic inserts

whats the thoughts

My engine's running bloody hot these days. could help.

Im guessing you have looked at all the normal bits first? Rad/waterpump/thermostat/coolant/etc? In theory there shouldn't be a need to go louvred unless you are running aftermarket performance mods which would require more cooling than is already normal in any modern car.

Be different if you were going forced induction or more power etc

Thats a bit worrying, your needle moving towards the red from straight up then? I honestly don't think bonnet vents is the answer, these cars run ok in the nevada desert without them. Something else must be amiss.

It's ok. I was being a bit flippant. I noticed needle creeping eastwards couple of times in warm weather in traffic on mway.
Will prob need to swap in a new stat and pump at some stage however....
Bonnet vents would suit this car tho i think.

I'm not sure. On an M bonnet and correctly positioned yes possibly, but the regular bonnet is so vast and flat I think they would look a little odd.

The creases on the M bonnet in my mind might make it possible to be creative and make sure the vents work with the bonnet in a subtle manner so long as they were done custom and designed well.

i have been thinking about the vast bonnet, and that the m lends itself more but i think it could, with the right size and positioning look like its supposed to be there.
im going to contact the guy today,
i have priced up a bonnet re spray so we shall see

need position and size ideas

Also very costly if you change your mind or try and sell on.

They look awful - stuck on, shaped differently to any other line on the car, and utterly pointless. Sorry - all in my personal opinion of course

If you're going to do this then they have to be Louvres in the metal, looking like part of the bonnet, like this:

Top Bottom
