Bonnet release not working

Morning all,
As the car hasn't been out for a while I thought I'd put the battery on charge for a fee hours, but unfortunately it seems that after a few weeks of not being used the bonnet release catch has seized up. Any suggestions on how to access the catch so that I can manually release it?
I've removed the handle in the footwell, unclipped the cable and given it a pull, but this hasn't worked? Thanks

Remove the driver side kidney grille, then you can reach the cable where it joins the latch and give it a pull.

The battery is in the boot!

   Good point !!! In my defence it was early in the morning, and I'd just taken my sons car battery off charge, and I've been furloughed and my brains turned to mush..... and

Thanks for the other answers as well, cant have a car where you cant access the engine

There are two points + and - in the engine bay.

As said above... Remove the driver side kidney grill and push down the bonnet, release the catch. Think I used a screwdriver.

I sprayed mine with MUC Off bicycle oil. Never had a problem with it for 4 years.
