Bonnet gas strut replacement - tips?

My bonnet gas lifting struts are corroded but still working. They are the original parts. I have bought replacements. Is there anything I need to be aware of/careful of doing this job or is it as straight forward as doing the boot struts?

thanks

Same, lift up tab and pull

Should mention obviously you'll need to support the side you've taken off while you change them round as it'll sag but still an easy 1 man job if you sort your hands out and have the parts in reach as you swap

Yes I made that error about 30yrs ago changing the boot struts on an A4 avant - propped it open whilst I changed one side - one ball joint was particularly resistant on removal meaning I had to whack it off resulting in the prop falling out, boot lid collapsed with only one strut attached and smashed the rear screen!!!! Not a great day that one ha ha !

As soon as you take one off the bonnet will drop. Grease the balls before you put the new ones on.
