I washed the car today, whilst drying it off i lifted the bonnet and found that it doesn't stay up on its own !!
One or possibly both of the bonnet dampers/struts are knackered
I tried calling BMW for ages today and got no answer, then realised it is Sunday ;-0)

Its a 2006 ///MR, 10k mile car that is hardly ever used incase you wonder

The gas struts usually fail after many years, plus the bonnet is all that heavy tbh so maybe you just got a poor batch anyhow bmw will replace them for you under warranty and even if they dont their piss easy to change and can be picked up pretty cheap from your local motor factors!

Im just waiting for BMW to open up this morning and hopefully they may have them in stock

correct............NOT in stock
but its booked in for Friday when the stock arrives, 20 min job

Just wait until the Z4 becomes as old as the e34 M5s and then try to get something from a dealer

The most difficult bits are the small bits of trim that you're forever scratching, cracking, snapping - but you do get some major items (ignition leads, crank mass damper), that take 6-8 weeks and then get lost in the system which means another 6-8 weeks. And that's assuming they're making them anymore - the ignition leads used to be available individually, now it's a whole set at £250 or nothing and there is no aftermarket option.
