Bonnet cable replacement

I have a 2005 2ltr with the single bonnet catch. I'm looking to replace this, along with the cable as it sticks (bonnet seems shut but lifts to the safety catch intermittently after closing) and it's obvious the cable has stretched.

Can the cable be adjusted and/or is the replacement easy enough?

Probably a daft question, but have you lubricated the catch mate? Mine went a bit tired but after just squirting with WD40 it started working properly again.
 
Yeah. Been like this for a couple of years. Freed it off with WD and white greased it. The cable needs sorting too tho.
