Boat mooring wanted South West

It’s worth a post, a very very long shot I know but has anyone got a mooring, or knows someone with a mooring in Cornwall they would either sell or rent me during the summer season for a 25ft Cuddy boat?

You never know...... :)

I waited 3 years for a mooring in the right area.. ..gave up in the end.
Good luck with the search

i have happy memories with boats but jeez they were moneypits,,, :|

Narrowed it down to a 2nd hand Bayliner 742 RW, 25ft but light enough to tow with the Evoque at 1850kg, the cars rated at 2000kg so no issues there. It’s an entry level boat but not bad, for a boat, on fuel, seats up to 8 day cruising, and is big enough inside for my boy and I to kip on during long surfing weekends. I’m hoping to keep one down there during the summer season then bring it back home during winter. However finding one is rather difficult, they’re like rocking horse dump and when one pops up they get snapped up straight away as they’re such a good boat. In fact, I can only find two in the UK for sale at the moment, both only a year or two old and both too expensive, gonna have to hunker down and wait...and wait....and....wait....first world problem though...

thats a nice boat,
a long time ago i had a Winner and i was launching it in brixham bay off the back of a trailer, and the coastguard walked up to me, i thought oh s**t. what have i done.. he informed me i had just launched singlehandedly the biggest trailer borne boat in brixham harbour on record. :D
sighs, those were the days..

with respect John, if its 1850 and you have only got 2k capacity you will pull its nuts off and it wont be very stable to pull either, dont want to tell you what you dont know, but at 1850 dead weight thats more than your evolke wieghs and your looking at around 110% ratio which may or may not be legal, but will be bloody dangerous

John this place is local to us, it's on one of my evening walking routes down by the river infact. Chatted to the owners brother a few times down there. :D

Says they have moorings available currently.

Plenty to do around the Tamar and Lyner. Barbican and Royal William yard accross the river. Plus within an hour of the channel and where ever you fancy on the South coast.

Really RW..? The cars rated at towing up to 2000kg max in the manual, it’s a 250bhp petrol, can’t remember the torque off hand, that’ll pull it no probs no..? :?

no mate its nothing to do with power, its a case of the tail wagging the dog , and when you pass a truck ect it will pull you in to it

its not power you need its weight, my range rover had 150 bhp but it was stable because it was heavy

Sure, I get what you’re saying but surely if the car is rated with a towing capacity of 2000kg I’ll be ok no..?

no
im not saying this to be a smart arse, if the towing vehicle is heaver than you are - it will pull you all over the road ,and paying all that money to see it upside down on a motorway wont be nice

With a trailer stability arm as well..? You also have to remember it’s not a caravan, no big slab sides to get drawn in, I’m a bit lost tbh RW, cars rated to 2 tonnes, not arguing with you as I haven’t towed anything for 20 odd years but I’m struggling to see how I’ll have a problem tbh.

Oh yes I get that about the weight, but the Evoque is heavier than the load, plus a braked trailer with stability arm, should be fine I’d have thought.

I tow over 3 ton with my double cab John as it’s rated to 3.5 for a braked trailer and have no issues and I doubt the Nissan weighs much more that 2 ton

Yeah they’re the old car mate, the 2019 car is a different beast, they’ve lengthened and widened the chassis, the rates have increased with that new car. You have to look at rates from 2019, they only brought this new model out this year.
