/BMWOC Lost Without Cause - THE RUN!!

Saturday, February 23, 2013 4:00pm Cobham services, M25 Jct 9/10, KT11 3DB

Welcome to... THE RUN!!

The final location, as before will be undisclosed. Extra has invested approximately £75 million in a new Service Area on the M25 between junctions 9 and 10 at Cobham in Surrey - we will be heading off from here where there will be more than enough space for us all.

We'll be making use of the A24 otherwise known as, The Mole Gap. The Mole Gap is a strong candidate for the most scenic road in the Home Counties, as it twists through the narrow valley through the North Downs. On the Mickleham bends [as this road is referred to] and has 2 lanes southbound.

We are sure this event will surpass the previous and be more fun, entertaining with zero confusion and prevent attendees getting lost.

We hope you can all attend, we will of course be holding competitions once again and other forms of entertainment..

So please encourage fellow BMW owners to join in this mid-afternoon till late event - as we are very sure you will not be disappointed.

Also;

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS!!!

We have now setup to be breaking a world record in the "largest BMW convoy" as part of "THE RUN" - no record currently exists, so either way, we WILL be setting one!! But lets make this unbeatable guys so we need as many of you in attendance as possible!!!

Regards,
-Management

Hello Simon, firstly, to beat the record of a BMW convoy you'll have to get over 317 which we had at Silverstone last year just for Zed cars (see link attached)

http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=32876&hilit=2012+Zedfest&start=900

Must admit didnt enjoy your first session as much as expected, as waiting around for ages being filmed by the police waiting to start in the supermarket car park & double parking round WestFerry rounderbout wasn't really my bag & those I was with.

Thanks for the invite, though if you'd like some other ideas, take a look at a recent session we ran

Jembo - did you register your convoy for the Guiness World Record, if not perhaps a missed opportunity :(

You talking about the summer cruise with schutch & jan_tekin? That would definitely take some beating for the smallest convoy on the sunniest day with the greatest amount of fuel stops...

Perhaps 2 missed opportunities then SMALLEST and LARGEST

Hi Jembo, as others have just commented it would seem you didnt register this with the Guinness World Records, as they lack such a record :/ currently the only BMW related world record is the most Isseta cars in a parade which totalled 187 i think off memory.

If you wish to join us in attempting this officially then by all means join.

The first event of ours had a couple teething problems, lack of space etc.. however, thats where we've straightened out said issue with 'round 2' if you will, no chance of double parking, and no cause for police due to private property areas. However, i think you are mistaken by the first location, as no police were present filming, a single Sargent attended to claim a few details from us and hand us his personal number to give him a call just in case we had any issues with unwanted guests, but then he went on his way. There was filming present at westferry however, but this was mandatory just incase as a result of the bad name tunnel runs have at westferry thanks to Miss Banzai. However, we were applauded and congratulated by both the MET police and borough councils for being outstanding guests of the areas and not causing any trouble and welcomed again with them as our hosts.

That all being said, this event is not to take place in London, we came away from that event with a lot of invaluable information about the people who came, how things navigated, and how the run went.. as such 'THE RUN' is born. and like we've said, not to disappoint ;)

Thanks,
Simon

Simon,

Good luck with the event. :thumbsup:

These things take a lot of putting together and quite often for no thanks or recognition for the organisers. Sorry I will not be there as away 'overseas' for work. :(

Hey all,

I've been in touch with a few other BMW marques' owners and anyone in Sussex / Surrey is welcome to join our convoy from Brighton along the A23 / M23 / M25 on Sat 23rd Feb. Just let me know.

Looking forward to this BMW hoon!

I think we should have a good Zed presence to counter the old 3,5 and even 7er's he he......so join in!

I'll come along again.....last one sucked.....never got my prize in the draw either, but willing to give it a second chance :thumbsup:

I think it would make sense to start a tab on who is coming from here;

1. JuniorJet - '58 Z4 M Roadster (+ '04 M3 CSL + '11 135i M Sport)
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
....

just a reminder.. 5 days now people! the size of this event is growing exponentially we're looking at around 700 in attendance now.. get your names down and lets hit the 1000 ;) numbers are still rapidly increasing so be sure to join :)

shame to hear :(

for all others just to clarify, this is a 100% legal occurance, we obtain written consent from the various stakeholders for our events.

only 4 days now till its upon us, and is growing by the minute, this really is going to be something spectacular.. we're looking at well over the 700 number now, and theres a lot of silent numbers where friends have told friends etc, im hearing of convoys cropping up all over the country to come to this theres an estimated number of around 200 that we cant even confirm, plus the 4-500 through facebook that have confirmed attendance and the other 200+ from forums.. we're hoping to hit the big 1000 == 5miles of BMWs in convoy... now that will be interesting.

We also have two film crews onboard who will be documenting the entire thing for submission and proof to Guinness World Records.. current record does exist and is held by 278 Issetas... looks like we're going to beat it :)

Be sure to be a part if you can.

Also;

We're thinking of doing a Harlam Shake Video whilst at the Cobham services for a bit of fun, this might be another Guinness World Record in itself, so be sure to get involved if you feel up to it ;)

hope to see many of you there.

Regards,
Simon
