Bing can be pumping out "Call me maybe" from his Zed.

Pretty close to an unfortunate turn of phrase that Rubes :o

I am banned from playing that song when Wee Bing is anywhere nearby

Now then Bobby, we should meet up when there... Swirls are something of my past so I'll be happy to give some advice if you're wanting to improve it. Kerbed alloys most of us have, despite our best efforts, so you're not alone. On the first day of my new 313's I kerbed a rear. Ask the OH, I could have burned the sky with rage.

that sounds a great idea great to get some tips
my usual wash regime is taking it to the £5 handcar wash not what i would normally call it but have to be more pc on here

That sucks mate :-(

Now where am I going to get burgers from ? :x :P

I've packed up the gazebo, but will need a hand putting it up as a couple of the poles have lost their clips so a little co-ordination is required. If I can get a coolbox in the car I'll bring a disposible BBQ and a few burgers.

Daughter has decided to attend so now I need to keep all the petrolheads away from her, and her amused for a long day :?

Might have to book some of the laps etc.

I think she will be able to run away from me!!!

Yes bing you might need to get your own burgers!!! Or I might have to leg flaps of skin around burger size!! Is monkey meat a bit close to cannibalism?!?!?

Stu - happy to help with the gazebo... Spend lots of time doing that at rugby matches.

Wee Bing will be there if she wants to teenager-sit and use him as a shield :D

We're not going to find that we can't light BBQs when we get there are we? I hate to waste good meat!

Good point. Will check the site and literature

Yeah, nothing on the website under 'safety rules' or in the literature saying otherwise.

Just received this in the last 5 minutes (see the text in italics below). There is a change of entrance for BMWCCGB members (that's all of us parking in the infield).

For those of us NOT intending to be part of the convoy in from the hotel please note that the convoy is planning on being at the car park at Silverstone at 8.15. They reckon it will take about 45 mins for them all to be checked in and issued with their Parade lap wristbands. Therefore if we want to avoid getting stuck in the mother of all queues behind them we need to get to that car park before the convoy descends on it!! The gates for this entrance close at 9am

Last minute details regarding Silverstone Classic

Apologies if you have already received all of this information but we have had several reports of people getting no emails at all!

The deadline for sign up for the Asian buffet is today so please do that ASAP if you are interested.

Please read the rest of this email before you arrive at Silverstone!

There has been a change to the way that we will enter the event on Saturday. Entry to the Event on Friday and Sunday remains unchanged and we enter as Instructed in your Welcome pack that came with your tickets!
For Saturday ONLY we will now use an alternative entry into circuit via West Entrance 13 and Car Park 40. The exit off the Dadford Road will be at West Entrance 13 (see your map as supplied with your tickets on the parade lap map you can clearly see Car park 40 Identified). This will be signposted with the BMW Car Club GB logo included for clarity below.

In Car Park 40 all admission tickets will be checked by Goose staff.

After everyone has been checked in we will parade to our Display area following a Goose lead car. This will be by cars crossing the pay line onto the circuit peripheral road via the vehicle gate adjacent to pedestrian entrance 15. (Take a look at the diagram you were supplied with your tickets). Cars will then turn right and drive the around the peripheral road in Procession all the way to the tunnel under the National Straight. Cars will then follow the signage to their allotted display area in Blue 8.

If you are not in the Cruise AND you are coming down from the North on the Dadford Rd you will need to continue past the duel carriageway section onto the single track road and the entrance way will be a left turn into West Entrance 13. This entrance as Previously will close around 09:30 as described in the email regarding the Cruise.

So below is a corrected Saturday entrance and Saturday Cruise to replace what was in the previous emails.

Saturday Entrance

The entrance route we have been asked to adopt is to come up from the South on the Dadford Rd. If the cruise was coming down the main entrance dual carriageway it would cause problems due to a significant number arriving as a block. We have ALL been asked to enter through the BMW CC GB entrance on the Saturday which is the Car park number 40 for those that know. To be clear that is the Cruisers and the non cruisers should both use the dedicated BMW CC GB entrance at Car Park 40 west entrance 13 on the event map.

We have been asked by the organisers because we have been allocated our own entrance routine that we all (whether cruising in or not) use the same method of entry ON the Saturday. So if you are not joining in the Cruise then please if you are coming direct down from the A43 to the main entrance of Silverstone drive past both the Dadford Rd West Entrance 3 and the main entrance (which means going over the roundabout by the main entrance then the road become single carriageway you will then see the West Entrance 13 Marked up with the Clubs Logo leading to Car Park 40. This is a shingle car park. This entrance will be open on Saturday from 7:30 until 09:30 and then the staff will shut the entrance. If you are late you can try the Dadford Rd West Entrance 3 but there is a possibility you may not get issued the Parade lap wristbands as the organisers will be issuing them as we enter the event through our dedicated entrance. If you are too late for the moratorium on vehicle movements and are parking in the public car park just follow the signs for that. You will not then however be a part of the parade lap, or Car Club Display.

Saturday Cruise departure time

There have been questions about what time we have to be leaving the Hotel. Working back from the time we have been requested to be in place which is 09:00 and allowing 45 minutes for admission processing in the car park and then being shipped into the correct area. that means we need to be in the car park at 8:15 in order to do that we need to leave the hotel at 07:30 as the hotel are starting breakfast (or Coffee and Bacon Bun) for us at 06:00 this would seem to be a pretty good plan. I drove the route on the 9th July and it took me a total of 35 minutes but in a cruise it will take longer than that as although I do not expect to make it all in one long line I will try and keep us all together. Darren also drove it a couple of times, video etc, and had some fun on the route taking a little less time than I.

So that the hotel knows how many cars to expect in the hotel car park if you are planning to join in the Cruise to the event please email the hotel using the link below.

Darren Kindly Videoed the cruise route for us. The Gateway for the Car Club Cruise entrance is on the left as the Dadford Rd becomes Dual Carriageway just before the end of the Video.

Here is a link to the route on Google Maps Cruise Route

For those with Satellite Navigation Systems here are the Route files for a number of systems. (Thank you Darren, for generating all these files for us).

Notifications to the Hotel

I would remind people that Tuesday is the cut off day for letting the hotel know that you wish to partake in either the Tea¹s Coffee and Bacon rolls in the Morning and also if you are planning to enjoy the AsianBuffett. Also If you have not already please indicate to the hotel if you are not staying if you are planning to join in with the Cruise and finally if you are planning to just come and socialise in the evening. Just so that they have a feel for numbers.

Link for Sunday morning Coffee and Bacon Roll

There is no ³requirement² to notify the hotel if you are going to turn up as a non resident to socialise with the residents but if you are coming then it would be good if the hotel know you were coming though not eating with the Asian buffet there for here is a link for that as well. Socialising with BMW Car ClubPlease do however in your email let them which evening you are planning to socialise at the venue.

On Site Display.

We will marshal participant's cars on each of the days as follows:

Friday

Selected cars plus first come first served on the ŒBMW Display¹ area

MPower cars in the MPower area

Alpina cars on the Alpina area

Fill up the All BMW (14) tarmac area

Everyone else on the grass (no specific forum areas)

Saturday as per the layout diagram (MPower zeds will locate with the other zeds on the grassed area)

Sunday

E30s plus selected cars on the BMW Display area

MPower cars in the MPower area

Alpina cars on the Alpina area

Fill up the All BMW (14) tarmac area

Everyone else on the grass (no specific forum areas)

I'm not massively convinced at these arrangements, last year worked out well but now we're being funnelled with a delay on entrance for each car...

To get there before 8.15 will mean a 5.30am set off for me. I will really struggle with that.

I reckon if we get there about 10 minutes earlier we'll be fine. Even if we don't there might be loads of stewards in attendance because they'll want that entrance shut by 9am. So even if we do get stuck behind Bing's burger delivery convoy we might get in quite quickly.

We asked the question some time ago and were told that BBQs are fine

Last chance, as everybody got a Z4 window sticker or tax disc holder, this is so the stewards can identify and keeps us all together

pm me if you need 1

If any of you don't have the sticker or tax disc holder then could you print a piccie of the logo on a sheet of a4 and put it on your dash please?

Taz - any chance of putting an image on here for people to print as required?
