BMWCCGB Zedfest, 20 – 22 July 2012, Silverstone Circuit

I looked at getting my tickets for the Saturday and Sunday at the weekend. I hadn't realised until then that the Zed Fest was part of a much larger event. I must admit to being a bit disappointed at that. It's no so much a celebration of BMW Zed's per se. It's a Classic Car event of which we will be a small minority by the looks of it. I'm still up for it though.

However for those of you like me who gave up camping in their teens, a word of warning. Nearly every hotel within 20 miles of the track appears to be full that weekend. Therefore I may end up just doing the Saturday if there are no Zed-specific events on the Sunday.

The Snoozebox rates for a rabbit hutch room trackside are scandalous.

The grand plan is to make the zeds the majority and the focus day for that is the Saturday. For the Friday and Sunday there will still be zeds on display (although not in such large numbers) however you could take in some racing for not much extra outlay. The BMWCCGB are open to ideas for zed-specific attractions/events - let me know what you'd ideally like to see and we'll explore those ideas.

Agree the sentiment on the Snoozebox rates; I suppose someone must be buying them though :erm:

Now there's a date I'm off to check with my walking talking diary, to see if the piggy bank can be raided for this!

I'm sure there won't be many marques with 500 examples there

500 x £54 per ticket = £27,000... either the prices are quite high or I'm in the wrong business! :) (or both, LOL)

That's just Saturday, and I am sure the site said they had 7000 cars there last year... You and me both sp3ctre :D

How else does Silverstone fund fancy new 'wings' to wine & dine celebs and corporates at the GP that said people have zero interest in?

Is this a show 'n' shine type event or is there some track action? Mind you, you'd need a supercharger to make Silverstone vaguely interesting.

You'll be surprised how brilliant the Snoozebox Hotel rooms are, and don't forget you are right in the middle of the action in the Paddock. Compare the prices with a hotel outside the circuit or an American Motorhome and it is great value. Camping in the wet (hopefully not!) and using communal showers and toilets as an alternative?

It's a bit of both really. There's a full classic racing program and other cars to go and look at if you manage to take in all the zeds.

Righto - two more Z4's for your list - just booked Saturday tickets for a Blue Coupe and a Red Coupe for me and jaRED (and the sprogs). See you there - and hopefully on a run somewhere beforehand :driving:

Thinking we'll camp somewhere nearby off-site.

Add me to this list - sounds like a great day!

Oh lord that'll bring the average speed of the parade lap up a few notches  - We're gonna have more coupes than pram-tops at this rate

Booked for the Saturday, not sure if the chic, one of the kids or a petrol head mate will be in the passenger seat, we'll see

Add me in, I'll book this weekend probably as I need to consult with Mrs Aebous to see if she's willing to stay a couple of days.

Will we need to arrive as a forum group? I'm willing to meet up with other forum members to go to this.

Booked for the Saturday and staying the Friday night in a hotel about 20 minutes away :driving:

May I ask where and how much? Hotels around Silverstone are extremely expensive on those dates as you can imagine!

horwood house doing a deal for zroadster.org members, so join them and its £70 a night , double room inc breakfast.

Not sure what people are doing for accommodation for the zedfest weekend but i've found a hotel doing reasonable prices,it's not on the doorstep of Silverstone it's about 30 mile according to the tom tom.
Looking about at hotels nearer the venue and i found that the prices were pretty astronomical so i thought i'd post about this one.
