very valid point on the depreciation, where abouts in scotland are you, the cars i'm going to see are in glasgow and edinburgh.

Slap bang between Glasgow and Edinburgh (Falkirk to be precise). You local up north of the Border too? I raided down south for my Z4 but was worth the journey :driving:
 
had the roof motor go on my roadster when it was less than a year old luckily it was still under warrenty ,but i was advised by bmw service department a new one was circa £1000 !!!!!!

Yes I'm in a small town up north called Thurso hence the need to travel a distance to buy a car.

....you know, is it really that important? When I'm driving my '04 3.0L, or just admiring it (I still do that - even after 9 months of having it) I really can't get hung-up about the indicator colours - the clear ones look a bit better, or is it that they're a bit more fashionable?

Either way, the car was originally designed with amber lights and I fell in love with the car then - and nothing's changed. :thumbsup:

I sort of agree with you but I go through phases - most of the time I couldn't care less about the amber, certainly not enough to pay the £££ required to change to clear indicator ones. But then other times I see other silver Z4s with clear headlights and it makes me want them again :(.

But if I come across some clear headlights on bay at a good price I won't hesitate LOL.

Well you can't get any further north without getting your feet wet! One of my mates worked in Thurso for a couple of years and travelled back and forth to Glasgow every weekend, around 4hrs IIRC. I'd offer to stop by and give any cars a quick look over if it helped, but I'm stupidly busy for the next few weekends and am rarely in Glasgow/Edinburgh anyway...

my z4 has had a number of mods but the amber lights haven't bothered me one bit. certainly wouldn't change them due to the ridiculous cost involved. however as my car is silver I think they look ok, however on a black car they really do stand out and seem to date it !

Thanks for all your opinions, I have decided to go for the 3.0, reading on here problems seem to be few, rear springs not a expensive fix coil packs same again cheap fix, if the roof did happen to go tits up how much is a motor to buy and is it an easy job to do yourself.

Personally, I think you've made a good choice :thumbsup:

Roof motor is pricey (maybe £500.00 ish???) but installation is do-able if you're that way inclined (well covered in other threads on the Forum, too)
 
Good choice on the 3.0 litre I am absolutely chuffed with mine and haven’t had a single problem yet (touch wood, also roadster). 0 - 60 is a lovely experience.

Will probably get a Z4MC in the future, maybe a couple of years but am loving my roadster and still love looking at it.
