BMW Z4 Windows not working

Hello all,

I have a 2011 Z4 23i.

The car was sitting neglected for a while, during this time the battery had died.

I’ve since replaced it, the car fires up beautifully.

However, no windows are operating in the vehicle (I haven’t tried the roof operation).

Window switch on drivers and passenger side are both not working; I don’t hear any sort of sound when I try either of them.

The comfort opening doesn’t lower the windows when opening the door either.

Any suggestions on where to start looking for more answers?

Thanks in advance,

George

Failed FRM module. Extremely common when the battery has died or gone low.

Lots of people out there who can reprogram it and have it back to you in a day or so. Happened on my 30i.

On RHD vehicles it is located under the trim underneath the steering column. About a 5-10 min job to remove and refit.

May not be the FRM…as usual what does your bmw specfic code reader say?

If it's the FRM, BMW just extended the warranty to 15 years and 186,000 miles. I just sent them my receipts for the FRM replacement I had done in 2022. They will reimburse owners that paid for a FRM problem . Here is the website to see if your car is covered. www.bmw-rp.com

Note - This may only be for BMW North America.....

Btw, if you have an android phone or tablet, Bimmergeeks ProTool is an excellent code reader.

I don’t have one. Looking at purchasing online, but they all appear generic. Do you have a suggestion for one?
Foxwell amongst others..Autel…or app based like Bimmergeeks Protool
