BMW Z4 misfire problem

Hi,

I am recently a new owner of a 2004 BMW Z4. Have had problems with the engine light coming on & the EML light. Also the engine misfires. Send it to the local dealer, they replaced one coil. When they returned the car after a day I had the same failure again. When I hook up the reader I get Cylinder 1 & 4. Hereafter I have swapped coils & now get the #2 & #6 cylinder misfire fault. When I clear the fault the engine works fine, but the problem comes back after some time idling the engine.

Would appreciate any advice, before I send the car back to the local dealer again.
 
I had the same fault not long ago. A bmw friend of a friend mechanic changed plugs and coils but fault was still there. He said the next step is the valvetronic motor. With the scanner I had he couldn't reset it so he disconnected it and started the car to create a fault then the scanner could read the fault and reset it.

Fingers crossed it's been fine since and I've had some good runs out in it. Worth a try before sending it into the garage.
 
Thanks for the info. I will try your advise this upcoming week & inform if this has solved the problem.
