Im a lurker here but ive got a lot out of this forum and listing here first to see if takes a anyone's fancy.

2006 56-plate BMW Z4M Coupe. Sapphire black, black leather, leatherweave dash. 89k miles. £17,500.

I've modified a few things over the years to focus on performance as it's a weekend and driving holiday car, but nothing drastic that cant be undone over a weekend.

  • Bilstein B16 adjustable coilovers, Polybushed rear lower wishbone bushes, Wiechers front strut brace
  • Carbotech XP front brake pads. Awesome stopping power even from cold and a big upgrade from stock (will come with a spare set of nearly-new BMW pads as the carbotechs can be a bit scheechy on the road as its a racing pad)
  • Wheels refurbed by Lepsons in a custom one-off copper metalic powder coat, with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres on all corners. Best tyres ever for this type of car! Fronts 7mm , rears one 7mm and one 5mm as I replaced one off-cycle due to a puncture.
  • Stromung exhaust backboxes. Handmade in California and imported by me. These really bring the awesome S54 engine to life and a lot lighter than the standard boxes.
  • Stormworks titanium short throw gear knob. Not just "bling", it's a much nicer weighted throw for the getrag gearbox on these cars and allows a smoother change. The car will come with the original backlight knob if you prefer.
  • Gloss black kidney grills (because it's the batmobile...)

The standard exhaust back boxes, and the front and rear suspension removed at 62k miles will come with the car if you want to return to standard, but IMO these are decent upgrades that make a difference to the experience of the car . e.g. adjustable B16 coilovers can customise for track driving Vs comfy commute £2000, backboxes for the soundtrack and the odd spit of flame £1000. I am covered with a regular mainstream insurer with all modifications declared, for only beer money more than a stock quote - dont let modications put you off!

Carbonfibre patterned leather dashboard trim - this looks very smart! Standard equipment for these cars is pretty high with a great sounding audio system with subwoofer behind seat, Bluetooth phone connection, cruise control, reversing sensors, heated seats etc. The 6 CD changer doesnt work and i havent bothered to look into this so the car will come with 6 free CD's from when it last worked :)

Excellent service history with run-in service at 1009 miles, and then 9 services mostly BMW maindealer but I took the car to proper M specialists for the inspection 1 and inspection 2 so I know it was done right. e.g. they provided the old valve shims from the adjustments they made. Fully stamped history booklet with a stack of supporting paperwork and receipts for servicing and parts.

2 keys. Documentation for a tracker but I dont currently have it enabled.

Interior is in excellent condition with minimal wear to leather. The paint is in good condition with usual stone chips on front end but nothing out of the ordinary.

This is a seriously nice car and I have loved the 6 years ive owned it but its time for a change. Probably for something with 8 or more cylinders to tick that item on my bucket list.

Currently on a private plate but being returned to its orginal 56 plate.

Not sure what I think of the wheels, but they certainly are a one off! Never seen anything like them :)

^ they are a bit marmite! Its a candy finish so IMO they look best in bright direct sunlight as it creates lots of contrasts and colour variation over the wheel. They also look good filthy for the same reason - which is quite handy.... ;)

I'm undecided on the colour of the wheels, but at least they aren't black!

And yes, Road Tax is £600 a year - ouch!

GLWTS OP.

This looks like a lovely car with excellent history. Unfortunately the wheels will put a lot of people off. The truth is people want original spec cars, then they can decide what to modify, if anything. Best of luck 👍👍

This car looks fantastic. I’d be more put off by the Nurburgring (?) circuit on the back than the wheels. Wheels are easy to change and someone would pay good money for those. GLWTS.

Thanks! yeah I appreciate the wheels won't be everyone's cup of tea. The next owner could splash out to get them redone in a finish of their choice and i guess that would be factored into any negotiation :)

Modifying a car is a touchy subject. Spending money in the right places can improve a car for a specific set of criteria, compared to the manufacturers market and pricing goals. The high quality perfrormance parts fitted to this car are are geared towards handling and driving exeprience.

The mid 2000's tax policy is brutal. I SORN over winter anyway which helps and personally I think the extra £ compared to taxing other cars from this era is well worth the smiles that this thing brings.

In your defence if the car was right the colour of the wheels or a sticker wouldn’t put me off as it’s not a lot to get them painted and removing a sticker is free, having said that I can see it might be worth getting the wheels painted silver now and that might speed up the sale but it’s all subjective, I would be seriously interested if the tax wasn’t £600 out of principal really which I know you can’t influence

Thanks chaps. interesting thoughts on pre-emptive wheel colour change - I'll consider that but i'll shed a little tear as personally I love them.

The track sticker comes off easier (I jet washed one off once by mistake!) The Nurburgring and other circuits are perfect for these cars to see some of the perforamnce the designers intended without risking your driving license. I always treat my cars with respect and mechanical sympathy.

Lovely car, looks really smart, glwts!

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly, but did you ever take the car on track, and if so how did you far on noise limits with with the Stromung boxes?

Cheers Ed

^ Thanks! They are reasonably loud but no problems on the few trackdays I went to. iirc the last static test was mid 90's dB

Thanks for the reply - my worry is if yours were standard cats mine will be louder with race cats :S Ach feck it, there's only one way to find out right?!

Ive had a fair bit of interest in some of the parts. I prefer to sell the car as it is though and will give it a few weeks to see if theres someone that wants it.

E86 has such classic sports car proportions. gorgeous!
