I have given this guy a sensible cash offer given the time of year of £15000 to no reply

That's not a sensible offer for this car though. £15750 would be a sensible offer. Who cares what time of year it is (convertible aside), if its the car you want and its available then just pay up for it. :headbang:

Its not a bad offer though is it? Considering what has been offered already.
Surely the ball is in the sellers court whether to say its a bit low or give another figure that he would accept.

Depends..

Does the seller say "or nearest offer" anywhere of is the selling price firm ?

Knocking off over a grand without even seeing it is quite presumptuous i think..

Really depends on how the offer was made.
If 15 was the maximum he could stretch to, why not offer it and see what happens, I would.
Theres sometimes no point in wasting peoples time by asking questions, going to see a car, haggling, if you know you can only offer a certain amount.

Very true...

But I would be actually speaking to the person on the phone, asking all the relevant questions and then making the bid after having a nice chat and explaining my financial situation

Blind offering sometimes leaves a bad taste with the seller

Yup a time waster. When they finally turn up after agreeing the price they say "oh but its got three more stone chips than you said, will you accept another £1,000 less?" :headbang:

This ^
I have had both of the above scenarios occur in the past 14 days. It has been so much more pleasant to talk on the phone, then again during a long test drive with a potential buyer and enthusiast in the marque.

For me personally, I would need the above to have taken place before any offer made below the current asking price could even be considered. Then and only then would negotiations take place, where the buyer and the seller know the bargaining positions they stand at. It is at this point that a deal could potentially be struck between them.

Would like to let you know that this is still for sale and I have been away on holiday and also travelling with work hence the radio silence.

Took the car out recently and I am now in the process of replacing front discs and pads and having the calipers and carriers sent away for strip and clean, new seals etc. The next owner will not now need to even think about this for the next 60,000+ miles. Car will be ready to view again in approxiately 3-4 weeks depending upon how long it takes me to get the calipers off and sent away.

Will update on progress when near completion.

Thanks

I can't believe this hasn't sold already. I really would be thinking of upping the price just slightly after all the brake work and not taking offers as t seems you're in no rush for the money ...

Morning chaps, have received pm's and thanks for the renewed interest. Sorry I haven't replied individually, have been away again over the snow covered North Yorkshire moors trying not to kill mad cyclists.

At the moment the car is in storage off junction 11 of the A14 and unavailable for viewing. I am off to Scotland in the new car on Wednesday so will not be starting the brake work until next week at the earliest. Will post pics of progress once started.

Thanks again.

Cheers for the update. When things are ready, please drop me a line as happy to wait for the right car.

Waved goodbye to the Z4M today.

Really pleased that Punxsatawney Is now the owner I'm sure he will look after it and enjoy it as much as I have. image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Congrats Punxsatawney!

Tankman, where did you send the calipers to? They look great.

Thanks very much Tankman, I've inherited a good un there. A well loved Z right there and my family genuinely couldn't believe it was nearly a ten year old car, immaculate.

Also thanks for the ride in the gt4, what a brute! Hope you get as much enjoyment with it as I am with the z.
