BMW Z4 E85 from 2004 Open roof with key problem

Hello!

Just bought a BMW Z4 from 2004 and im halvung problems opening the roof with the key.

It works perfektly when i press the Button thats placed in the middle console, but when i stand outside the car and hold in the unlock Button the roof get unlocked from the Window, bit its not continuing. Sometimes it Open halv way, but then stops.

What is wrong?

i don't think a 2004 z4 has this functionality it needs to be modded to do it.

i bought a gaptech for instance and had to mod the wiring to get it to do what you want.

Yup. it's not a standard feature on the early cars, I seem to recall you could option a "close" from the remote, but not an "open" I also fitted a gaptech RCH+ as they have been reduced in price, 15 mins and all done.. http://www.gap-tech.co.uk/rchp.html

If it's opening half way then stops, I would suggest you do have this option programmed. If the signal from the key or a break in the button press occurs it will stop and you will have to continue it manually from the car as you've found. If your standing quite far from the car there's a good chance the signal is dropping out causing the problem. I've found the range of the keys isn't that great and a bit sporadic so this is most likely your problem. Not sure if there's a fix, might be a battery issue although they are self charging from the ignition.
Just to put your mind at rest anyway I think it's quite common for this to happen.

I drive the car for about 2 hours after i bought it. Shouldnt the batteri has charged in that time?

Mine is a 53 plate. I press the unlock button 3 times in a row and it opens the roof. To close the roof remotely after shutting the doors, press unlock 3 times followed by lock once.
