Woohoo! I can't get enough of my Z4!

OK, read the article, and enjoy.

Ahh just looking at those US dollar prices depresses me.. US$46K for an option loaded 3.0 coupe?? Unreal....here in Australia the very cheapest 3.0 z4 WITHOUT any options is AUS$94K!! (US80K !!) That's virtually DOUBLE the price that our friends in the US buy the car...
And the Z4 M is US113K !!

Depressing

For those of you that have the coupe is this a valid complaint??

One thing I didn’t quite understand was why BMW put a rear panel behind the seats that cuts off the interior room just like if it was a convertible. Was it to maintain chassis stiffness? The area behind the front passenger seats should be opened so that the rear storage compartment is accessible.

Actually - no. I would hate stuff to come flying out and hit me when I jam on the brakes!! I picked up a travel bag with velcro that fits in great in that area just behind the rear panel and between the battery and bulkhead!! It sticks there and I can put things there and they do not move!!

That bulkhead is structural and I tend to agree with the comment that it adds to the lateral stiffness in the rear of the car. I had the rear end of mine apart to install the DICE interface and can attest to the fact that it is a structural metal partition that is not there just as a fastening point for the upholstery.

The rear "firewall" is a part of the structural integrety of the vehicle. In fact, it has one of the highest torsional rigidity of the current BMW line. I believe that only the old 8 series was close to the Z4.

It would be nice to have at least a pass-through in case you need to reach back to grab something (not while driving, of course). Kinda like in the 350Z. But as far as this sports car is concerned, I prefer functionality over practicality. You can't really do a whole lot in the back when you're practically straddling the rear axle.

Hey Rick,

Do you "hoot" when you drive your coupe? Do you not hoot when you drive your minivan?

The author must be imported from like Wisconsin or something like Wisconsin. There isn't a real Chicagoan alive that would know, much less use the term "hoot".

Hey Lord Zednik,
Does your Febreeze bottle make "hoot" sounds when you spray your Zed? :P

My Febreeze bottle absolutely does NOT hoot, rather, it is reminiscent of a gentle zephyr of an early spring morn' on the heath......or something.

BTW, you'll be thrilled to hear that I've found a source for McGuiars "Febreeze" in gallon containers rather than the expensive 16oz. version. Well, I'm thrilled anyway. :driving: :driving: :driving:
