anyone encountered this?

Hmmm obviously a flaw in the casting, in the valve industry we hydrostatically test every casting that retains pressure as part of the Pressure Equipment Directive and other local standards, ASME & DIN to name a few. It is not uncommon for castings to leak due to inclusions obtained in the casting process.

Either the wheel manufacturer does not hydro test the wheels or they do and that one slipped through, more worrying if it's the latter.

thats what i was thinking, i havent even checked my tyre pressure since i bought the car.. doing first thing when i get home!

had something similar on a 1 series in 2006. humungous row with service centre manager who tried to tell me tyre pressure could drop 6psi in a day and it was OK, eventually found to be a porous alloy wheel. replaced FOC.

check pressures weekly with a good pressure gauge.

Strange one!!

It seems increasingly obvious that the wheel size of choice for the Z4 E89 is the 18" if you want reliability!

My guess is that the wheel didn't start leaking until CR put the car through some test laps. At 10 psi over night, the car would have had a flat tire before it left the plant.

There aren't any issues with BMW rims, are there? :fuelfire:

That's what the nice BMW salesman told us prior to purchase, then we find out two rear wheels have been replaced by the previous owner under warranty and there is a large gash in the NS rear inner arch, which looks like it's been caused by rubbing (unlikely) or a serious tyre failure.

Funny how that nice salesman or his manager are now not returning our calls :voodoo:
