After just over a year of ownership and getting the car setup for what I thought would be long term ownership I've had a sudden change of circumstances. . . a little cliche but a baby is on the way and so my weekend car has to go!!!!
I bought the car from a private seller near Southhampton and he kept it in a garage, his friend was the owner before him who did the same at all times and so the cars condition reflects this, and the body work is near immaculate for its age.
Thinking I would have this car for years to come I've spent quite a bit of time and money the past year on things I thought wouldn't need touching again, and so I've just had a new rear differential fitted which comes with a 12 month warranty or 10,000 miles, 4 grooved discs and pads, 4 brand new Michelin Sport 4 tyres last month which have done about 150 miles. I've also had both rear wheel bearings replaced as these made a little noise when I got the car as well as a full spark plug change and new clutch was fitted around 50,000 miles.
The car has been maintained by both myself and a local BMW specialist who I've used for years, and they have carried out a lot of the recent works which include regular oil and filter changes during my ownership. The cars engine is a sweet as a nut and hasn't missed beat with no tappet noise which can be a little common on these n52 engines apparently. I've ensured it gets a run once a week to work which is 100 miles round trip just to get things up to temperature as I'm a firm believer cars don't like to sit for too long and can actually be worse for it.
I bought the car with £900 BC adjustable suspension and springs already fitted and is lowered over the standard ride height, but unsure by how much, but has no rubbing with the spacers that are fitted to improve the look of the car. All wheel bolts are new and correct for spacers.
The car comes fitted with cruse control, heated electric memory sports seats, a hidden Bluetooth unit for audio and podcast playback via iPhones and Android devices which works via the aux option on the standard head unit to maintain that original look, as well as an aux socket fitted into the ash tray for those who like wires. I fitted a BMW ZHD M sport 6 speed gear knob which gives the gear changes a more weighty feel and is a common upgrade, a 6 CD changer, reverse parking sensors, hill hold braking assist, auto wipers and auto headlights as well as cup holders and new diamond stitched car matts.
It’s had the common CDV removal which makes gear changes more responsive as well as the common back box delete giving the car a more throaty sound.
The alloys had just been freshly refurbished months before I bought the car and are finished in a light gun metal paint which compliments against the metallic black bodywork.
I've had the roof motor relocated to the boot which again is a common thing to do with these cars as they can suffer from water ingress into the motor and can be expensive to replace, and so had no issues with the roof at all during my ownership.
The steering wheel plastics have all been refurbished as the black paint is prone to wear on these.
