IMG_0727.jpeg Selling this on behalf of a friend who is not a forum member.

It’s a 2006 3.0SI with 103k miles on the clock. It has the style 108 alloys, brakes in good condition all round. Heated/electric memory m sport seats. Has had a fair bit of work done by myself including; new front shocks, springs, drop links, air filter, wipers, pollen filter, rocker cover gasket, side reflectors from BMW. Will be getting an engine flush, oil and oil filter change shortly. I will also clean out the vanos solenoids and check that they are operating correctly.

It did have some damage to it as shown in the last 2 pictures. The door and wing have been replaced with colour matched parts. Just awaiting the badge to come through the post. The pre-accident parts are available for inspection so are pictures of the car with the panels removed - zero damage beneath them. Note, this is not a category car- it has a clean title.

The roof pump is in its standard location. The roof opens but doesn’t close properly. My mate will be taking this to enuff_zed to get this sorted. All major roof components work and the roof is in excellent condition itself.

It’s also got wheels spacers all round and also the Storm Werks shift knob and handbrake. It runs and drives fantastic and will be fully detailed inside and out.

Service history wise - it’s a bit light. It has a few invoices from previous owners but no stamped book. All receipts available for recent work done.

The windscreen surround rubber needs to be replaced but I’m unsure if it can be done in situ. If it can, then it will be done.

My friend bought this on my advice however his other half is not pleased and wants it gone. I have just bought an RS4 otherwise I would’ve bought it myself.

Fire any questions my way - the car is currently with me as I am doing all the work on it.

Price £4995. Possibly the cheapest 3.0SI on the market?

Good chance you can rebuild the missing service history - or at least a good portion of it.

Most cars see attention from BMW at least in the first few years (some more if you are lucky) - you can access that online for a minimal payment (less than a tenner) & likely get a decent starting point on a history that is official from BMW.

Get a manual & a document pack from ebay, and piece together everything you have paperwork wise.

For less than £50 invested you would have a much better selling pitch - just my tuppence.

My recent purchase 7 series went from zero history to absolute 100% full BMW service history - for £50.

GDPR bullshit can get in the way, as I have found to my cost. I spent a lot of time searching for missing history on a car a couple of years ago. The garages with the info kept citing GDPR as an excuse not to give me the details.

When I bought an E91 in 2018 the trader selling it had a contact who told him which BMW dealers had worked on it and when, but I don't know how easy it is to access that information.

Still it proved handy as it turned out the Service Book had one missing stamp for a service 3 months before I bought it, so I called that dealer and they said if I took the Book in they would add the last service. :)

Yeh you will get this frequently.

But the BMW service history is not GDPR restricted - you can just get it with no issue. Friendly BMW garage might pull it & print it for you, or as I said, pay a small fee & just get it yourself in a few minutes.

Anyone can access the full details that BMW hold for your car, the build sheet, breakdown of every visit to a BMW dealer plus any visits to a non franchise dealer if they have updated the central computer record. BMW specialists tend to do this - random garage not so much.

Might not be the full history on an older car, but will be some!

I do it now routinely when doing final checks on a car I want to buy before I drive down & look at it - quick, easy.

Did I pick up a seat off you yesterday morning?! :D

I actually had a little wander back up the road before you came out to see if this was a manual 3.0si as they are in demand these days. Looks like a very tidy car for £5k.(y)

Yes you did…hope you managed to sort your seat!!

IMG_0832.jpegThe interior of the car hasn’t been cleaned, just the exterior has. Also, the tyre marks on the ground are not from me….they’re from the guys that come here at night to drift!!!

Hi, Potentially interested if the car is still available.

Just wondering what work has now been completed since the original advert was posted? In particular:
  • Has the roof issue been fully resolved?
  • Were the oil service and VANOS checks carried out?
  • Has the windscreen surround rubber been replaced?
Also, do you have any receipts/invoices for the recent suspension work and other maintenance?

Thanks.

The roof issue has not been resolved yet - it’s currently being operated manually.

The oil service has been done. The Vanos solenoids were checked. The intake solenoid was dead and has since been replaced. The car feels noticeably more revvy now.

Windscreen rubber has been ordered, delivery due next week. Will be installed when it arrives.

All receipts for work carried out to hand.

Additionally the coolant has been replaced with BMW coolant.

Hi, still potentially interested in the car.

Good to hear the service, VANOS work and intake solenoid replacement have been completed.

I’d ideally like to view once the roof issue has been resolved, as I’d be looking for everything to be functioning correctly before purchase.

Out of interest, do you have any more detail on what has been diagnosed with the roof so far and whether a fix has been identified?

Thanks.

I would suspect that the roof motor/pump needs replacing as it’s in its original location and has probably drowned.

There has been a lot of interest in the car and as I’ve said to everyone else that has contacted me, it will be available for viewing/purchase w/c 8/6/26 as I won’t be around to show it.

I have taken this off my friends hands now (long story) but due to other commitments cannot show the car sooner than the above date.

Some people that have enquiried are happy to take the car on with any remaining issues whilst others are only interested in it fully fixed.

I will do my best to get it fully sorted but from that date it’s going to sell….and to be honest someone will get a lovely car out of it as I have been using it as a daily this week and it drives brilliantly!!
