Hi there,

I'm from Portugal, and I have a Z4 3.0i e85 from 2003 with 35 KKm. It's a colletion car!

I just love the car, and it's almost perfect!

But there is one issue that I would love change: the standard seats are poor. They are Electric and heated, but the car ask for the M seats.

Anyone know or recommend a place to purchase a pair of M sport seats for my Z4?

Hi there,

I just made the M Sport seats installation.

I bought some used M Sport seats, manual and not heated.
Fortunately, the structure of the standard seats, of the BMW Z4, are the same as those of the M Sport Seats, so I mounted the seat and back of the M Sport Seats in the original structure, which are electric seats. As my original seats were also heated, I ordered the original heaters for the M Sport Seats.

Unfortunately I have a problem: the heating does not work. When I turn on the heating button, the green leds, indicators of the heating level, blink once and the heating does not turn on, in both seats.

I have already connected the car to ISTA+, and the following error appears:

000004 SZM, Thermoprobe, left seat heating, disconnection

I've already checked the plugs and everything seems to be connected well.

Can anyone help?
Is it necessary to code the heating of the M Sport seats, since the heating mats are really different?

I haven't been to the BMW dealership yet, I'm afraid they'll take money and won't be able to solve the problem!

Hi welcome to the forum and congratulations on finding a pair of M-Sport seats.

Hopefully you'll be able to get the heating elements working, but we'd love to see a photo of your low mileage car anyway!

Looking great

Thank you!

I just notice that you have a Z4 with Msport Seats. Are they heated? If they are heated, Can you send me a picture of the underside of the seat, where you can see all the wires and plugs?

Because I have one wire and Plug without connection.... Probably there's the problem...

Mine are heated and I have some photos of the underside, somewhere in my archives. As far as I remember, the looms are pretty much covered with black tape but I’ll try to find them… If you have the colors of the wire, you should be able to identify it from WDS — BMW tends to color code them well.

Here they are. The green and blue connectors on the first and second are temporary, non-oem for power and ground, which were rectified to oem when I managed to source the correct type of pins used in the yellow connector block.

May you enjoy many trouble-free miles! The grey colour looks so much better in a sunny country.
the engine is very healthy!
I still have the problem of the steering getting a little stiff on very hot days.
already know how to solve?

If you search the forum for " sticky steering" you will get information on the problem. https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1996042&hilit=STICKY+STEERING#p1996042 You can also fit a greasing point into the column https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=50994&start=90

Hi there,

I already discover the trouble, thanks to your photos!
In the last 2 photos, that you sent, we can see a blue a and a black connectors. Those connector are the link between the back and cushion heating. In my seats there is missing a wire to connect de black connectors.
In local dealer I can't find the reference to order these cable. Is there anyway that you can make a photo of that cable or of the reference oem, so than I can order from BMW dealer?
Here are the photos from my seat where we can see the black connectors without connection, because there is a missing wire!

Perhaps this will help with the numbers, the driver's seat may be different to the passenger's as your car is left-hand drive. https://www.lllparts.co.uk/product/61117111903/wiring-drivers-side
