hi guys, i havnt been on here much after getting my z4 2006 si sport 3.0, im really happy with it and have had her 3 weeks ,

then some stupid person at work reversed into it so now she is at the body shop at bmw having new bumper ect,,,,

for a hire car they have given me a 10 plate sdrive 3.0 hardtop convertible and i have seen a few different things

1. the exhaust sound is louder and pops more than my si sport
2. it has xenons ( are the e89 light different compared to a 2006 model ?
3. the angel eyes light up when you unlock the car
4. their are lights under the door handles

my question being can you put the new lights in a older z4 ? and why is the exhaust so loud compared to mine when it is hot ?

i like the new shape one but i really don't like the interior

any comments welcome

1. This is due to an electronic sound generator IIRC
2. All E89 have Xenons
3. You can do the angel eye conversion, but its time consuming - see here for the full story,
4. Again, this has been done on E85 models, there is a guide somewhere on here, but I cant find it

an electric sound generator ?? lol sounds like somthing you would buy of ebay lol

are the e89 lights the same as 885 ?

thanks for the reply adam

No the E89 lights are different in ways that would prevent part swapping :(

The eyes turning on is a part of the welcome pack that was introduced on the E90/E60. I enquired about it on my Z4M they said the E85/6 Z4 did not come with that part of the welcome pack just the interior lighting up.

The newer model probably has a slightly more spirited exhaust with the IIRC, Lights under the handles again introduced with the newer style E90 and E60 which were introduced after the E85/6 and are also a part of the welcome pack.

Was disappointed with my Z4M because mine is a 56 plate 2007 car but my previous car E90 06 plate had all the welcome pack stuff. Was strange on a car that cost double new and was newer that it didn't have it.
