BMW Z4 2003

Hi Guys

My key was watched with my clothees at the laundry, it opened up and the battery was remove and lost now my car wont start. How much is to make a new key or battery replacement?

Sounds like you have lost the transponder chip that was in the fob, small rectangular black chip. Thats needed as it contains the code for the car to read and release the starter. The battery only works the central locking buttons the transponder requires no power, its read by the aerial around the ignition barrel.
Check the filter on the washing machine you may be lucky and find the transponder, if you do put it back in the fob and it should crank the car.
If its gone then you will need a transponder replacement and have it coded to the car so the EWS module recognises it and allows the car to start. Mobile Locksmith should be able to sort it otherwise you will need a new key from BMW which will come coded to your car. Have seen someone purchase a Valet key from BMW and then strip the transponder from that and use that in the normal key.

Must have been an aftermarket item as the standard key is only able to be disassembled via a very sharp knife, lots of caution and probably some blood. Do you have a spare key as you can get a new one programed, otherwise it's going to need some extra (probably expensive) programming for 2 keys to suit the module?
