Hi, I am new to this forum and new to driving too. I just bought a BMW Z4 2003 2.oi. The car is in a good condition however before I bought it, it was not used for about 14 months and was on the driveway. can anyone tell me how to check the oil level as it has not got a dipstick. I have tried pressing a button on the dashboard but even though it says oil it does not give me any measure. As well as I switch the ignition on I get three warning lights. One is a red light for the oil, the second one is a red light for the air bag, the third one is a yellow light for service and the last one is a yellow light for electrical failure. As I switch on the car the only light remaining in the dashboard is the one for the air bag. Last week the yellow light for service was all the time in the dashboard however it only appears as I switch on the car. Before the car was left on the highway it had a service done therefore I do not know if I should take it for service again, and if I need to put more oil or get it completely changed. Any help would be really appreciate it as you can see I have no idea about cars. Thanks

Welcome to the forum & Zed ownership
Mine is a 2005 model but it should be the same for yours.
When you press the button (With the engine at operating temp ( approx 6 miles driving) & running at standstill on a level surface) & get 'oil' on the display you should have a graphic to the left of the word oil - there are three types
1) oil level ok - looks like two square brackets with two lines of three dashes connecting them.
2) oil level is being measured - three dashes with a clock like symbol between the dashes & 'oil'. This takes about 3 minutes.
3) oil level is at minimum - two vertical lines with five dashes between them, a + below them and '1.0' displays below 'oil' , top up with no more than 1 litre.
If this makes no sense I'll scan page 81 of the owners handbook with pics & post it.
After standing for that long on a driveway I'd change the oil anyway. Re the airbag light staying on I'd get it checked.

14 months standing and not being used - agree with others at least an oil service and I would go for brake fluid changed as well. Airbag lights have been a problem and will need resetting. Dealer or Indy can do this but an Indy will be cheaper.
If the car has not been moved in 14 months you could also have 'flat spots' on the tyres again worth checking as this will effect ride and handling.
Petrol degrades over time and I would certainly drain off what was left in the tank and fill with fresh.
A full service will at least give you peace of mind and a good starting point to your ownership.
