Idea of a test drive isn't a bad one. Just pitch up to the local BMW dealer in the Z4 to help things along. Shame she's on nights this weekend and Jo's having to stay with my folks in Paisley to stand a chance of getting to/from work in decent time. There's no great rush to buy a 4WD now though after that one yesterday being a duffer, so we've got the time to at least drive some before then buying from auction...
chrismann85 is thinking very much from a "very-capable" point of view, but I think a VW/Audi hatch/saloon is too far in the other direction - a bit more ground clearance would be better. I was under the impression the Haldex system was a bit slow-witted in the snow anyway?
