That would be a serious weight saving! An S54 weighs 217KG according to BMW. Still very impressive when you consider it's an 8 not a 6 and has more power. Possibly the most advanced mass produced road car engine on the market at the moment though, it's a seriously impressive bit of kit. Sounds nice too...I still hold out hope the Z4M will use it, seems daft to spend all that money on development costs only to break precedent and not fit it to a Z based M car (Z3M and Z4M both using M3 engines of the same period). That will be a fire breathing monster of a car if they do it, and I'm in.
