BMW Warranty

Advice please?

Last year I extended the BMW Warranty that came with my purchase, now it's up for renewal again. At £427 I'm having serious doubts about renewing, as I have not used it in the past 2 years of ownership. I know I could just bank the £427 and use for any issues encountered, but it's typical that after not renewing something big will go.

Any helpful advice is most welcome.
 
Ive used mine 3 times this year costing over £1500 of warranty work.

Depends the older they are the more likely something will go wrong. I wouldn't be without it and one piece of warranty work can easily cost more than the renewal. Depends how long your going to keep the car too. Much more attractive to buyers if it has one.
 
Ive used mine three time - cost would have been arounf £2000- (including new soft top) so just renewed mine at arounf £400- just in time to save another couple of hundred on things they spotted at my service service.IMO its a very good 'used warranty' compared to those offered by other makes.
 
Not wishing to sound unhelpful but a search of previous threads will show quite a few where the pro's and cons of warranties have been exhaustively debated!
 
Remember there are different levels of cover with different costs including a drivetrain only version.
 
I think it well worth it just for the peace of mind, I had a roof motor go this year so it more than paid for itself, if a piston bangs out of the engine it would be disaster without it.
 
Mines in today just had the phone call and have to have a new
throttle actuator fitted £1000+ so thank god for the warranty :thumbsup:
So £427 is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
you could spend that much at the dealers just having your tyres pumped up. :evil:
 
It's worth remembering that without a warranty you wouldn't pay (unless you had a deep wallet) dealer prices and would get a good Indy to do the work. I'm off warranty for 2 years now and had a brake calliper seize as the only problem. It was reconditioned and replaced for under £200 from a good BMW indy. You also save on not paying for dealer servicing costs. Having said that £400 seems reasonable. The M warranty is double that.
 
My warranty has so far saved me over £1500 in 8 months - the comp warranty cost me £366. It was a godsend and ill deffo be renewing mine!!!

Exactly.

Also mine only does a about 2k a year so better off keeping the money in the bank for the rainy day.

You can't warranty these cars forever.

Just keeping my fingers crossed now :cry:

It's all a big con.
Am about to replace the n/s rear shock top mount. I have cover since the purchase of my car but can't be bothered to claim.

Bought the mount for £20, labour will be about £50. If its any more, I'll do it myself.

If I claim on the insurance the bill would probably be that, times 10.

Doing my bit to stop this scam.

I can see your point when it just a shock mount or a calliper
but looking on the web today the throttle actuator for my M is between
£400-500 :o so for me it a no brainer to have warranty.
