BMW touch-up kit

could only ever be as a good as the person applying it.

imo it would just look like blobs of paint over chips.

things like this need wet sanding down and heavy polishing.

smart repairs or respray is the best way forward i should think
 
As pablo says - only as good as the person applying it. Never used the BMW specific but have used dozens of other makes inc. oem and they take real skill to get a finish.

I'd use then on places I needed colour not quality, so perhps the lower edge of the spoiler or under a sill or a chip on a door edge. Panels, bonnet, etc. - forget it - just a mess.

thats the only real way to do it neatly. anything else will look like dull blubs of water on the paint

It looks like that guy gets great results, I wish he'd come over here and sort my car out. I'm not brave enough to sand my car :oops:
 
For us rookies, meaning myself, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I applied the OEM touch up paint and made a mess of it. Through one of my friends I learned about this product. Nothing short of awesome.

Hey IMZ4N - What is the blob eliminator? Does it sand or shave the top off the blob?

I've just purchased a first Ka for my youngest and it looks like a great test bed to work on a few scratches and chips, before touch ing my own car :D
 
Have the BMW touch up kit and not impressed save your money i used the Halfords kit for small stone chips much better as it has a pen style nib so not half as messy and no blob but as said above for that perfect finish you need a pro.

This stuff is great. I would say it either sands or polishes the blob away.The blob that sometimes is left behind, This stuff does not hurt the finish around the blob and really only works on the new paint that has been applied. Since the new paint has not been baked on is how it works as I hear it. :thumbsup:
 
A few days back Bob pointed out the blob eliminator as an excellent way of in effect taking the blobs 'off' touch up paint spots.

As mentioned I'm going to have to practice on a daughter's newly acquired, but chipped Ford Ka.

Does anyone know of a UK supplier, or of a similar product available here, to avoid the lengthy US shipping to get one?

sorry, but the term "touch up" kit makes me think dirty old men... mmm, quite appropriate for some on here :D
 
You can get excellant results from the touch up sticks you get from halfords and the like. It's how you apply the stuff, obviously if your bumper looks like a 14 year olds face then your never going to get it looking great!!!!

Most people apply far too much paint and are inpatient.

Totally agree - application is the key, not the supplier of the kit. I've been spot touching to full resprays of cars for 30 years and have done everything possible, from amateur to professional looking results

That said back to my question of does anyone know where the blob eliminator or similar product can be obtained in the UK, else I'll have to place a US order?
