BMW TIS in Ubuntu

Hi,

Running ubuntu 11.04 and I'd like to run BMW TIS under Wine.

I try to install using Wine, but it comes up with a problem with ODBC. I also try to install the ODBC driver, but I get a further error.

Has anyone here got BMW TIS running in Wine on ubuntu? I don't have a winXP machine and BMW TIS doesn't work on a win7 64 bit OS.

Any BMW TIS/ubuntu gurus on here?

Oh..? What web based version? :-)

I just bought this DVD from ebay, but found out its WinXP only 32 bit...
.. only have win7 64bit or linux ubuntu...
can't get it to work in either!
 
Maybe I'll look into that, been struggling with ubuntu (personal machine). the win7 64bit is my work laptop I was trying to avoid installing it on there.

perhaps vmware is the next thing to try :-)
 
The BMW TIS works in Win7 32bit (no vmware) and Win7 64 in a vmware machine. It also works with Microsoft Virtual PC XP mode but runs a lot slower under that.
The ODBC under linux is different than on Windows. Wine has been around for more than 10 years and they still can't get it right. I'm not bashing Wine but it does have some major limitations.
I say this as a RHCE...

Another approach (have you tried this?). VirtualBox on ubuntu to run windowsxp or win7 as a virtual machine...

Don't worry, I'm not _that_ young either.. I just happen to work as an electronics design engineer so I'm used to computers :-)

... but not getting BMW TIS workshop DVD to run on my PC though!
