Bmw steering wheel grimy

Hi

What on earth have bmw pit on the steering wheel button covers started to try and get it off but what a job.

Any hands or tips on what I can do, don’t really fancy the carbon sticky things over the top.

I took them apart, sanded them down, and repainted them. See here

get some alcohol and the top layer will rub off
