BMW Steering Torque Sensor fail 611C INPA error

Hi , After reviewing the great write up in the "How To" section "save $2000) on this forum on stripping the EPS steering column I was able to dismantle my steering column and expose the torque sensor. (See picture.)
I am wondering if anyone has managed to remove the holding collar , which would enable the removal of the torque sensor assembly and repair the suspected broken ribbon cable within ? I am thinking the collar can perhaps be pulled off , but the question is how ?????
The brown collar is attached to a 2" long steel sleeve on the steering shaft. If its removed then the torque sensor assembly will slide off.
I am planning to try a puller on this but not sure if it is press fit or glues etc to the shaft ???
Appreciate feedback from anyone who has got this off :-)

Just to follow up on this.
It transpired I didn't need to split the steering shaft to allow access to the flex cable. (Pretty difficult to split and reattach from what I see in any case.
However I was able to pull the flex cable approx 6 inches out of the plastic holder to discover the break. To test if the cable is broken just use a continuity check function on your voltmeter to see of the 4 pins of the Torque Sensor chip , connect directly to the 4 pins of the wire connector leaving the assembly - Green Brown Yellow White.
I used some small gauge wire and solder bridged the broken wires and used insulating tape and glue to hold in place. The tape needs to flex so use thin wire that will also flex. Try to keep restore the flex cable to the same twist ratio as was when removed as the steering needs to twist clockwise and anti clockwise so could break the cable if too tight or too loose around center shaft.
This fixed my 611C issue and restored electric power steering.
***I later upgraded to Hydraulic steering which is so much better :-) ***
