BMW Specialist in Surrey?

Hi - Newbie calling!! First post so here goes!

Just bought a new (to me!) Z4 3.0i and am thoroughly enjoying it :D but have a few issues :( I would like to get sorted or looked at (CDV removed, clunk from rear suspension....). Rather than going to the Main Stealer I would like to try and find a trusted indie who knows his Z4s hence my question to the experts (you!).

So does anyone know of a good Z4 indie garage in the Woking/Guildford area?

Cheers in advance.

p.s. wish it would stop flaming raining.........
p.p.s awesome forum, full of great advice and top tips. Thanks to all concerned.

Welcome.

Don't know of a BMW indy in Guildford but Vines do a discount on labour for cars over 4 years old. Some other BMW dealers (Chandlers in Brighton) give another 10% off for cars over six years old. So worth a ring to check.

Fox's Garage in Guildford I've used before for issues with my previous weekend toy, a 944. Always had good service, and would be my choice for stuff like springs, dampers, and basic non service type fixes.

Finally, Munich Legends aren't that far and it's a nice drive in the country and they always have some interesting metal to look at. However by the time you've factored in the extra fuel to get there, the time and the fact that they are nowhere near a train station so you often need a lift, I just used to end up taking my 330i to Vines and coughing up. I did make sure I ate their biscuits and drank their coffee mind.

Welcome ginkster,

Great to hear you're enjoying the car!

If you're in Guilford you're in luck...

Although not sure if they would fiddle with the CDV. Clunking might be a spring, if you speak to them they may be able to get it done under warranty or goodwill! It will be under warranty if replaced within the last two years and the previous owner paid for some of it. They should be able to check for you.

With you on the weather.

ginkster, welcome to the forum!

Nice to see you chose the right colour ;)

I've absolutely no idea about dealers in your area, but feeling you on the rain situation!
Still.. the car's still damn good with the roof up aint it ;)

Many thanks for the replies - great info.

James - I have used Cooper Cobham before for a Mini but despite the glitz they just proved to be hard work and rather expensive. Have heard many good things about Vines of Guildford and the info about discounts for old cars may well make them competitive. Especially as I won't be spending a fortune in Starbucks whilst waiting! :D I will also look into the other recommendations.

PawnSacrifice - Thanks. I have seen a lot about the rear springs on the forum and know that the car had both replaced a couple of years ago so fingers crossed I will get some goodwill if it proves to be those again. Not sure tho, as there is no noise over speed bumps etc and I cannot see or feel any breaks when delving under the car (albeit not on ramps and wheels still on). The 'clonk' happens as I come on and off the clutch and sounds very much like a bushing at the rear knocking as the power is taken up/removed - ah well, lets see what they find!

sk93 - agreed, def the right colour  . Mind I am biased too!!!! Don't mean to offend owners of other coloured cars, they are nice too, just not as nice :D :D

Thanks again.

I use Charterhouse Garage in Godalming (near Guildford) as my indy. They specialise in all German cars. Great, straightforward service at a sensible price.
