Being offered BMW Seal & Protect on my (nearly) new Z4 coupe for £399.

What the general view on this ? Is it worth it ?

No, it's just another scam. It offers no more protection than a good wax and you still have to maintain it regularly or the warranty is void.

Either get one of the plastic leading-edge protections, or get the car completely vinyl wrapped for the best protection.

Otherwise just treat it to a good external valet/detail every month.

Although if you refuse often enough the price will come down to £250 - I just told them to stuff it as I was fed up of their constant attempts to get me to buy add-ons when I'd just spent nearly £28k with them, and if they didn't just get on with it I would walk.

dad has always added ths to his cars and he says that it has got crapper everytime! dont waste ur money!

I agree with all of the previous posters.

Last weekend I spent a happy few hours putting a couple of layers of Collinite 476 on my car. I washed it yesterday and was amazed at how much easier the dirt came off and at how much the water beaded all over the car's paintwork. The tin cost around £15 and I've still got loads left. Can't see how the Collinite will be any less protective than BMW's Seal & Protect, and it's a lot cheaper :) .

Where you basied?

Drop in to http://www.detailingworld.co.uk and get one of the pros to give your new car a full detail it will cost around the £300+ mark ( Including paint correction) but will be better than showroom and have enough protection that dirt just wont stick on it.

Had mine done for free when I bought my car from a BMW dealers over a year ago. Another customer had paid to get their own car done and they had some left over so the dealers used it to do mine also. It`s a once only job I beleive so the customer didn`t want the remainder of the package.

Over a year later and when the car is clean, the water sits like nice little bubbles on the bonnet still. however, It does have some tree contaminants on the back of the car which is impossible to get off (little yellow circles), even though it is sealed and protected
