BMW sales in the U.S. During May

The yanks have no taste, have you seen some of the clobber they wear? :o

You could say that about any country. NY, Milan, Tokyo and Paris might be the fashion capitals but 9/10 people there wear clothes that look like it came from the supermarket.

Don't think Chuck and Nancy have been anywhere near a Paris fashion show...

hmm. No market for 2 seater roadsters or the wrong car for the market?
Bet the new Mazda MX5 sells 1000s this year. Light weight, Manual, Normally Aspirated.... just saying! :fuelfire:

My understanding is that the SLK sells like hot cakes.

I think BMW made the decision to turn the tiny 2-seater into a SL-like grand tourer car and the buyers didn't like it. I like it. Honestly since mine is leased I can hope that the used e89 marketed crashes into oblivion and I'll spend 20 years in them.

Mercedes gets away with the SL-like SL because they also have the SLK, which provides the illusion of choice and might boost both cars' sales.

I agree. Those wanting the lighter weight, Manual, NA engine at the premium end I guess would go for a Boxster which the E85 provided a very good alternative to. Not saying the E89 is a bad car it's just not for me and I think most expect something more towards the Boxster than the Merc from BMW. I hope the next Z is different. On the plus side good cars that don't sell well when new tend to become sort after as they become older so I hope the E89 becomes one of them.

The 2016 mx5 Miata is going to be a hot seller. 241 units were ordered in the UK during the first month of ordering.
