BMW recalls 1.3 million 5 and 6 series models worldwide

The cars involved are 5 and 6 Series models built between 2003 and 2010? BMW only found out the problem after 9 years.

BMW were forced in to a recall after 9 years, all manufactures get away with murder when it comes to recalls - springs, roof motors, steering columns, HVA, cracked alloys....

It would be interesting to know exactly what the issue is, I cant imagine the boot mounted battery cover in a 5 or 6 series is very different to a Z4?
