BMW really need to up their game against AUDI

In fairness, I'd you're going to do that you need to put the old M6 next to the new M6...

Sorry, but this is gorgeous :

And so is this :

And don't get me started on the rear end comparison :o

In all honesty this is like the e85/86 vs e89 debate... I love the e85 and am not sold on the e89 quite yet... But there are people in the e89 who love them, and never liked or had the previous generation.

i don,t think the current 6 looks as good as the previous 8)
The current crop of BMW,s have lost a lot of their "aggresive" looks & for me that detracts from them ?

On this we disagree - the current 6 is a gorgeous car, much more svelte than the last one. And the cabrio looks soooooooo much better than the last incarnation. I'd have one

+1 Bing, Of all the current BMW's the six, is the best looking IMHO

Helped by the fact that there's is a new M6 Cab, Just like the one above, that I keep seeing around here. Very Nice. 8)

As for the Brown Audi with silly contrasting trim, You can guess what I'm thinking.

Yeah but my point is they are tame in comparison , , , with the previous 6 if it appeared in your rear view mirror you pulled over , , , if the above did the same i,d have a little wonder as to what it was then wait until it was safe to pull over :P

Sorry but in terms of purpose & menace they are falling short

I've seen a few on the roads, small and unimposing they are not... Anyway, I never get out the way of BMW drivers because they are all w@nkers

Coblers :fuelfire:

I'm gone like a drooling donkey, every time our local newcomer pops up behind my humble little MR. The M6 is still the dady when it comes to presents. 8)

I'll take my Zed for fun though. :driving:

Saw an M6 Competition pack at Sytner Notts today - looked very menacing (in the right way).

Audis? Meh. Keep the lot of them. Overpriced VW's.

This is how I see them  it's just a shame we made a poor judgement in buying an Audi...but it's only made me hate VW's even more! VAG have a lot answer for & I have said it before but why not make one good marque rather the five mediocre ones!

At least bmw have only made one poor judgement in investing in the mini (not counting rover) the rest of their range is pretty much spot on overall.

New 6 is certainly an improvement but as with everything originals always have a place. Just because they aren't made anymore doesn't mean they are no good.

Im sure the old 6 would give as many smiles as the new. Only difference is the new one has newer stuff... cheaper to run less likely to break.

Like the Z4M coupe :)

No replacement does that mean its the end... dont think so.

Back to Audi, my Nana has a 2.0l turbo A3 bland to look at engine is great but the car is not. Understeers everywhere, chassis is like jelly. Audis simply arent drivers cars anymore.

The A3 for example is literally the same as its original incarnation one of the blandest cars on the road in terms of evolution. No idea why people buy them.

The S3 is a great car, but nothing to look at, which is what some people want!
Can't knock the Audi interiors though, loads better than BMW and Merc.

Typical forum, only started this thread to talk about courtersey cars while yours is being serviced - what struck me was the ease of driving, how tireless it was to go anywhere & the quality of the finish,

The new 6 series is deffo a looker, though after borrowing this loaner for the day have to conclude its weight didn't inspire confidence round sharp corners - average were just fine & the 2.0 TDi was surprisingly adequate but nothing to write home about.

as always, depends what u want it for & having owned some big 4x4's before, this ticks all the boxes to never own one of these dinosaurs again

Back on topic, ish, when you refer to local dealerships are you talking about the BMW and Audi dealerships in Maidstone ?

They never were were they?

Although when I was learning to drive in 1983 this was my dream car, probably still is :)

IBing - yup, definitely am

AUDI as 'drivers cars' - agree aren't in same league as BMW's, though my point was BMW's are not as relaxing to drive & here that allroad is streets ahead of them
