BMW portable navigation system plus (Garmin)

I've read a lot about the BMW portable systems you can have now for the new Z4 for example. I have the feeling that the part for the 1-series or X3-series (not sure) looks similar to the shape of the sat nav on the dash of the Z4 E85. So the question is pretty obvious: does anyone know whether this would fit the Z4 dash? I prefer the Garmins over the outdated OEM sat nav...

I like the look of that solution. More up to date and versatile than the standard nav fitted in the e85/86. Would be very interested in whether this is possible as the nav units are not all that expensive.
 
Does anyone have the dimensions (incl depth in the dash) of the standard satnav flip up/down monitor? Are the dimensions of this monitor the same as the dimensions of the X3-monitor? I have read on a few posts here that the parts look alike and that some have even received X3 parts in error when installing the standard satnav. So if the dimensions are the same... the X3 dash bin should fit the E85...
